When someone posted photos of Yamaha's current flagship stereo amp (and matching CDP) while back, I think I posted something to the effect that it looked very much like this would remain a 'Japan-only' product. To my surprise, the local AV magazine has a blurb claiming that Yamaha Australia will offer the A-S3000 (and the CDP) at double the current RRP for the A-S2000:

Obviously, there is no sign of the A-S3000 on that page - I have no idea whether its 'special order' only, but at ~6600 AUD, I suspect that might be the case. Someone threw out 5200USD as the sticker price in North America back in this thread - sounds about right given the exchange rate and our much smaller market:

In any case, if Yamaha Australia are willing to import these 'statement' pieces, surely the US arm can do the same ? :scratch2:
Get down to your Yamaha dealer and tell them you are prepared to sell a kidney to put this amp on your mantlepiece.
