Hi All,

Ok, so I bought an MC2205 and had it shipped directly to Terry DeWick to be checked out. After some delays it was probably one of the last items he shipped before he left on vacation. It arrived today but after hooking it up to my C33 i cannot get the left channel to work. I get signals out of both channels using headphones into the C33 but only the right channel gets a signal on the MC2205. I have both Gain knobs turned clockwise and everything else seems to be hooked up correctly. I have it set to 'Stereo' on the back so it is not in the bridged mode. The left meter does not move at all. Could something have been messed up during transit? Any thoughts and suggestions are most welcome. I hate the thought of waiting 2 weeks for Terry to get back before I can even think about addressing this issue. Thanks!!

I just hooked the cd player up directly into the MC2205 and still nothing in the left channel so it looks like there is something wrong with the amp. I guess I must be jinxed with this one.

That's a bummer :no:. I am sure you have checked and re-checked everything (cables, switches, etc.) I once had an identical problem and it turned out that my pre-->power amp cable had - somehow - come loose on one channel and I had to re-solder it ... a long shot but ...

Flip the back panel switches up and down a few times - all of them. Double check all of your speaker cables (swap them back and forth) and of course check your rca cables. Try another output from your pre and check your pre's front panel switches/knobs. Flip the "speaker switch" on the front panel off and on several times - a piece of crud could be in the relay.

Turn the gain on the amp all the way down and hook your cdp or tuner directly to the amp and then turn the gain up.

Probably something simple.

Did you use the same interconnects? If you don't have another pair, try swapping L & R.

IIRC, there is a mono switch on the back. Even if it's set to stereo, move it back and forth a few times like Skippy recommends.
 
Thanks for all of the responses and I have some good news to report. I did move the Stereo/Mono switch back and forth a few times and made sure it was all the way up. Low and behold my left channel is now working!! I just got done blasting 'Day Tripper' and all I can say is 'WOW'!!! Thanks again!!

Hey.. that's great. I'm delighted each time I walk into the room and see my C33 and MC2205 sitting there in the rack. Had them for 20 years now. They both need to be serviced and I've been meaning to send them out. May just build an electronics bench and do the job here. :)
