I just bought a pair in fine condition, apparently in the house of the original owner. These are CORNER horns, and I haven't found a single web picture of them (but I've found others with the same name that look different!) so I'll have to take my own pix when I pick them up. (uff!)

I'm eager to learn about them. I'm sure someone must have scanned info on them, but haven't been successful in googling them yet.

Any stories, anecdotes, specs, etc. very welcome. I'll post pix when I can.

My guess is you cant find info because these because these were very expensive speakers back in the 50's retail was 500 each !

Did you get the blond, Walnut or mahogany ones ? At near 200 pounds each you better bring a friend.

Out of curiosity what did you pay for them.

Friends... priceless!

200 lbs each... I gave them a push, and they felt LIGHT compared to the Jensen horns I wrestled (3 friends) into the basement. Sizewise, it might be two trips with the Volvo 740 wagon.

Do you know what drivers are in there?
 
Very nice, appreciate the effort, but...

I don't think the Georgian in that picture is what I bought. Mine don't have the pseudo-cabinet fronts -- it's all grill instead! Dimensions seem about right, though.

Obviously I should have taken a camera with me.
 
They sure are pretty!

Picked up a Marantz 2325, Pioneer RT-707, CT-F1250 and a very nice looking Empire turntable at the same sale and got a peek at his EV's.

We went in on a "Grumpy Border Zapper" that shuts you car off if you cross the Ohio Line!

Are those the ones with the 30" woofer?

I recall sesing something like that while checking out JBL speakers on the web. I think the ones I looked at on the web were TOTL for EV for home use.

These use the 18WK with the T25A/8Hd horn lenses and the T350 which is the same that was used in the patrician.

Aristocrat IIIs, the first stereo speaker set I owned. Used them with a Quad 22 and set of Quad II amps. If I had half a brain back then, I'd have kept them. I could have saved so many hours playing and equipment rolling and done something useful like photography. I still remember the system fondly and now that I think about it, my Sherwood tube amp and Bozaks have brought me almost full circle back to this first system after some 45 years.
 
Picture and dimensions

The EV Georgians I bought are not so big after all. I began believing they were as large as what I was finding in the brochures: 53"H x 34" W x 26" D. I went and measured over lunch: 42" H x 28" W x 21" D. But I can't find them in the lit, and still don't know what's in there. The fronts:

Here's why I'm calling them Georgian 400's, though I haven't found the catalog/brochure to describe them:
 
Well, we know from the crossovers that they're three-way :-)

My guess: T35 tweeter, MR10 midrange and SP12B 'woofer' (unless you know the latter is a bigger driver).

Those are absolutely beautiful cabinets.
 
The same sale had an 18" EV, the model Grumpy mentioned... so I optimistically thought these would have that too.

So the downside is that the speaker components may not be so choice as what one thinks in a Georgian. The upside is that the speakers are not so huge as to be unmanageable. I see them as rear speakers in the home theatre system in the basement. I'm only half-joking.
 
Those are the same as the ones pictured in my EV catalog.

Grumpy, so then that the above statement still holds, now that you've seen the photos!

Woo-hoo! Good news for me! I love how that 18WK looks and feels. Do you have efficiency numbers in that catalog? I know the nominal impedance is 16 ohms, but that's all I know.

What year is that catalog, I wonder...
 
Yep all those drivers are in this one plus they added an Sp8B so that makes it a 4 way.

This model was 2nd only to the Patricians.

They don't list sensitivity the way we read it now but I would guess its close if no 100dB @1 watt, maybe more.

not sure of the year of my catalog but its number 159 which I'm sure is from the mid to late 1950's.

Just the T350 are worth what you paid for the whole set.
