You dont happen to have a review of the Lafayette LA/KT 550 amp? I believe it was from the same year.

Thanks Chris,

Given the present state of interest in tube components, these sorts of posts should be posted at least once a year. Will help to enfuse excitement and enthusiasm in us budding tube lovers.

David

Hey Chris,

WOW, you appear to be quite a resource for many vintage reviews. I, am most grateful for your review on the Fisher 400.

AK people need to remember "Search, Key word:review, Posts made by :Radioactive" to enter in their search parameters to locate a wide array of vintage reviews that you have taken the time and trouble to provide for us.

Best,
David

Funnily enough, I don't own a 400 either :-P I do own a 500C, but I think I've preferred the sound of the 400's I worked on. Not that I ever A-B'd them, though.

A gratuitous aside for Snapper's benefit (?): In the not-too-distant past, and for a long time, I ran a glycoprotein carbohydrate analytical laboratory for a large biotechnology company. A colleague, knowing I was a Dead fan and a carbohydrate biochemist of some repute, dubbed our group the "Sugarees".

Could we discuss the article?

Interesting points may be the graph that shows,
zero distorion up to 7 watt.
the statment about extreme attenuation for bass , looking at the graph seems to me bass is cut before the 50 cps? and lastly the riaa is excellent wonder which cart/deck they used to test it.
very nice find saved it to the docs, could i ask what publication is it?

hopefully my fisher 400 will be done by this weekend
she's singing again, thanks to mhardy6647 for posting great pictures and answering all of my questions
thanks radioactive for the reviews
i will surely print and frame the reviews

hi digtubess ,

the review came from high fidelity magazine.most of the reviews that i posted came from either "high fidelity" or "audio" mags from the 50's and 60's.

fisherlover ,
your welcome i enjoyed scanning them and posted them.

Thanks for the review; my Fisher 400 is one of my favorite pieces of tube gear, and I like the sound of it a lot more than the several 500cs I've owned
