heres a marantz 8b review
Well, maybe. The trick is finding output trannies that are of the same quality. Marantz gave up trying to outsource them and began winding their own for the 8's and 8b's. I owned one for many years and they can sound truely magical.ProAc_Fan said:My amp builder has the schematic and the parts to build an 8B clone if someone wants the performance of that amp and can live without the name on it. Is someone making new ones of the same Marantz quality or are you talking about getting vintage Marantz ones?

Just wondering whether you could buy a new production tube amp today for $1600 that is better than the 8b? :scratch2: I have never heard or seen an 8b in person.

I've heard all kinds of stories that there are no such caps available and therefore i'd only have a worthless bastard on my hands. The same individuals said it would be better to just sell the thing as scrap.
Is this extreme and rather bias sounding information correct?????
I'd appreciate any input on this i can get.
Thanks
