hi wineslob,

yes i did post it but like all the others i have posted over time the attachments went missing with the last sever crash.i was waiting becuse i was told that they might be able to resurrect them and not to repost the attachments as this might have some effect on the server.i am though going to go back and see which ones i have still on my computer and repost them in a new thread with different file names and delete the old posts.

i will look for the lafayette soon and post it once i find it.

Thx Radio. I'm being cheap and not ordering the review from Roger Russell, but if it dosent work out I'll order the review.

I know...I want Chris to post it again...I am getting one of them babies!!

well arnt you a day late and a dollar short.i just sold the matching kt600 preamp that would go with it.told you awhile back to buy it off me but would you listen .oh welll ill see if i can dig up the review of the amp and repost it.

I've been trying to find a schematic of this amp, which I've seen before -- if that could be posted, I'll be very grateful!

To the best of my recollection, it looked like a Citation II *almost*, except the phase was split by a plate-follower attached to the first gain stage. Very clever!

Is that drawing of electro-thingamabobs a review???
Can you get that preamp back???
Why didnt I listen>??

I think I have a thick original construction manual for the kit version of that amp. Or maybe it is just the regular manual.

I heard that amp was a Stu Hegeman special.

FWIW, I plan to part with my pair of KT-300 preamps. That gives you a dual power supply version of the KT-600 pre -- and they even designed them so that the volume control of a single one can be used to control both!

I wonder if the output transformers on the 550 are the same used on the LA-70 (KT-400 in kit form)? Those are very very good transformers.

The ones on the LA-70 have flanges but they are the same shape so it could be just a different case. I've heard rumors that the transformer used in the KT550 is the same that was used in the Acrosound Ultralinear II, I guess that would make them an OEM version of the TO-600. The FR specs are sure similar.
