My slow Pioneer Spec build

Pioneer Spec 4
I have been recently reacquainted with my Spec system after 12 long years. Long story short this is how I received it from my brother. It was missing one of the feet on the Spec 4, and a bulb was out.



First thing I did was order new led bulbs, and feet.



Next up was build me a Flexi Rack. There are a million versions out there but I have not seen one with ACME Threaded rods. Total for all material was about $150.





Cut out my own cork/rubber washer, and saved about $40

Looks really cool. Is that a Denon DVD-1920 by chance? Just wondered as I have picked up a couple of those recently and they are excellent for both video and audio. I use one as a stand alone CD player and it works great. Sound quality blew away all of my vintage players with the exception of my Pioneer Laser disc players. They actually compete a bit with their "musicality".
 
Good taste with that whole put together! Spec.....as far as Pioneer goes it is top of the heap in quality and so important. (Money in the bank.)

Thank You- Not sure what the model is on the Denon. It was used to play DVD's then replaced by a PS3, and was just sitting collecting dust. I actually have not played a CD on it yes. It will probably be a while before I hear it as I have no speakers to hook up.

Very nice system. Do you have any specific speakers in mind? Something PIONEER maybe <G>.
 
Really nice job. The Spec4 looks awesome with those LEDs. I'd love to get my hands on a restored one at some pt.

Thank you- I originally planned on staining it cherry, but then again I got a thing for blonde's : ) I might just give it a coat of lacquer. I'll have to do it in the Spring so I'll have plenty of time to think about it.

As far as speakers, I am not sure what to get. I haven't priced speakers in a while, and wow are they expensive. I'm tossing around the idea of building my own towers with some Cerwin Vegas, but that is a few months out. Any recomendations?
 
If you want to lock that "bright blonde" in (Dim ones can be so much fun though (?)....sorry.),try using acrylic lacquer or thin coats of water based poly. The slightest yellowing effect (on light wood) is a huge departure from that intent/lightest look.
