Victory is mine!
Back in 2005 or 2006 I bought a neglected STA-2100 from the original owner. After getting it back to 100% operational, I refinished the case. It beautifully sat on display in my rack until 2007 or so, when I sold it on ebay to fund a car project. A local guy won the auction and I delivered it... I always regretted selling it! It is Realistic's TOTL monster receiver from back in the day. It may or may not be their best sounding receiver, that's an argument for another thread, but it is considered the holy grail of RS receivers...and being a former RS employee and RS fan, it always broke my heart that I let it go.
Flash forward to August of this year and I respond to a CL ad for a Realistic stereo sytem that included Mach Ones, an RS turntable, cassette, etc. The heart of this system was an STA-2100. I emailed the seller to see if he would be interested in selling the receiver separately. I figured this would be a great way to acquire "another" one... He wanted to sell the system together, but I kept his email just in case. Every month or so, I'd shoot him an email to see if he wanted to sell the receiver separately, since he was having difficulty selling the entire system together. Last night he responded, saying the receiver was having trouble with the protection circuit and he'd let me have it for what I considered a fair price.
I picked it up today, got it home, and sat it on my dining table for a closer look. After a few minutes, I just started laughing! This is the exact same STA-2100 that I owned previously! It's come home... I'll get it fixed, tuned up and maybe even reveneered to make it perfect, even though my case refinish from 2006 still looks very good.
This will then be a perfect match for my restored/refinished Mach Ones...

. I'm listening to a mint STA-90 right now that is a very nice mid-powered receiver. Radio Shack had a few gems.:thmbsp:
