Have had a little bit of time on my hands to do some more veneer projects.I had a extra G8000 case a did it in a eastern black walnut along with my JBL L100 cases that were damaged. How they look.
A really sharp flat file will work very effectively in trimming excess veneer. I worked in a cabinet shop for four years and learned from one of the best. The trick is to leave the veneer hanging over as little as possible and only using a downward stroke to cut the veneer. Place tape over finished veneer so as to not mar it when adjoining corners. The thin sides are what cut and must be uber sharp. Beautiful results without all the power tools!
Here is my first project on my G8000 that I just got back about three weeks ago after being recapped and repaired. This is a spare case. This is realy my third project heres a link to my 890DB I reveenered the case on also http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=247611&highlight=veneer
