radford s90 transmission line opinions needed

just wondering if anyone here has ever used these speakers and their thoughts on them i have a pair available local for $200 and was thinking of picking them up.

hi greg,

i ran into a snag($$$$$)but my backup plan might work out.the speakers are still available so it looks like i have to dust off a certain something and test it out and take it from there.

i should know before the end of the week if i'll get them.

thanks for the link i saw it the otherday while looking up the speakers.there sure isnt much out there on them thats for sure. i really hope i can get them as ive never really had the chance to try different speaker types besides horns and bass reflex.

I've seen that exact pair and they are in real nice condition. Beautiful cabinetry... *large* too - like a small refrigerator. It's a coincidence I was chatting with the original owner of those about 8 months ago. He seemed like a real nice fellow and offered them for sale. Audio is mainly about finding product useful to me so one look at these things and realized there's no way in hell I could buy them. I didn't have the heart to part them out to the DIY crowd as they were just too nice.
Winnipeg is overly full of a bunch of lowballing cheapskates even at the best of times and shipping them whole would be a no-no, so a local sale would have to be the ticket. There's no way I was going to sell these locally, in a worthwhile sense, or part them out, so I suggested he take them down to McCullough's and let them make some money for him. And he did which is nice!
They're very similar to a large IMF Reference series and if I were interested in that kind of speaker I would've bought them myself. A $200 pricetag is simply peanuts for what you get. And you see? They've been advertised for a month at that price and STILL no one has bought them. I'll bet that guy's been getting offers of $25 - delivered. God bless Winnipeg...

i was wondering if you had seen them advertised and if so why the heck you didn't latch onto them.i am glad you decided to pass as now i will get to give them a good home.as far as parting these rare pieces of history out that would deserve

yep listed for a month and at various prices and no takers .i will be glad to give him the 200 to be able to try out some tl's.

oh i realize the size ,but im used to huge speakers.i think these might be just a bit easier to move around though compared to my altec 19's.

Good to know you've got the inclination to try them out. For $200 it's a gimme. I didn't buy simply because of logistics.

When I say overly full, it doesn't mean every single prospective audio buyer is like that but more along the lines of 80% - it's engrained. I can safely say this after more than a decade of selling gear full tilt. Winnipegs' national reputation as a wholesale town is not without a foundation. Yet, it's the 20% that are the ones you pay attention to making it worthwhile, some of whom have been from this forum.

I think the cabinets might not be all that heavy, perhaps 100lbs per which is good. It's a managable weight to get up or down stairs.

well i finally had a chance to hook up the radfords on sunday after some gear in the mancave and so far i like how they sound.i will say they sound different than my altec 19's and dont have that in your face horn sound that i am used to but i can live with that.these speakers are definately keepers and im glad the prodding that the guys gave me in chat to get them was worth it.

here are some quick pictures i took before i set them up.also if anyone could tell me what the object is pictured in the last photo i would appreciate it.at first i thought possibly a supertweeter of some sort but when i hooked the speakers up i cant hear anything coming out.
