Found these guys chilling at Value World. The cabinets were absolutely wrecked. However when I took the grills off it looked like somebody had re-foamed them...perhaps recently. I tested them out when I got home and they sounded really nice. :banana: I decided these were an excellent candidate for refinishing. This is my very first attempt at doing such a thing. The speakers are one coat of tung oil away from being finished...but I am too excited to not show them....here goes!

Thank you so much for that file, quite an interesting read. From what I can tell these are pretty darn cool. It looks like mine have been stood upright most of their lives because the bottoms are in really rough shape....maybe a little more sanding will fix em up. Thanks again
 
i'm not so sure those are the original woofers. there are a pair on the 'bay that look nothing like yours.

lguise, do you think it would be worth my time to get the original subs for these? Or should I just leave them alone? They do sound really good, not sure if these would improve anything.
 
Determine what woofs are actually in there. :yes:

I have a pair of the EV-4s that are in really good shape. Have never taken the time to figure out how to get the woven speaker covers off them. Anyone know how to get the covers off. The backs don't come off as best I can remember.

Think I'll put them on the refinishing list.
