Fisher D-39, how old and worth how much?

My wife inherited a Fisher model D-39. I have been told it works, but because it hasn't been on in years, I am worried about blowing out the tubes.

It is a console hi-fi, with a Garrard turn-table and a Fisher Diplomat Tuner. Its a console about 5' long, 18 "deep and about 32" tall. 2 speakers, no idea what kind.

On the back it has the tube/wiring diagram.

Just looking to find out how much its worth. How old it is. I have had no luck tracking any of that info down.

Anything you can tell me would be appreciated!

Cbrann, I can help you out on your console's age. The D-39 Diplomat is a 1964 model like me. There's more information on that model at my website:

Please disregard the typo on the model no. - that should read D-39 not E-39. As to value, I always advise folks that it's better to be a buyer of consoles than a seller - i.e.: fairly large supply of consoles+small number of console nuts=low prices.

I have a long running thread in the tube forum you might care to look through:

And if you'd care to post pictures especially of your tube layout diagram and the interior of your console that would be great.

Lets see if I can get some pics up here.

Wow.

That's beautiful console, BTW.

Thanks, it has a few dings dents and scratches from life, but is in good shape.

I think it works, but have never plugged it in, don't want to blow up anything that is old or weak. Any suggestions with that?
