For this brief interlude of subjectivist relativism, I will say they are very efficient, will play stupid loud, and sound quite good despite their $70/pair new acquisition cost.
Like Minimus, they need a sub, so I'll bring out a Control Sub5 to play with them; I don't have their actual design mate, which is Control Sub1, but we know how to build those.
They measure out pretty good. I'll listen more, then consider the tweak or two the curves suggest, maybe....
None of the C1 variants ever were, I don't believe. Shall I return them? :tongue:

I've been waiting for the right speakers for my T-Amp. I'll check out their efficiency rating on the web. "Stupid Loud" is what I need at about 6wpc.

Yes! 4 Ohms and 87dB. They'll do the job for my portable, battery powered setup. The T-amp puts out at 4 Ohms. Something like 10-11 wpc rms.
I checked the web and they list for $199 msrp. Where did you find them for $70? I haven't check online except for the specs.
Looking good! Plan to go camping next weekend. Those little JBL's will be perfect.

I quite like this little things - I talked a friend into buying a pair as they were on sale, and they sound rather good even without a sub considering the price.
And they're tough buggers too. There's a nightclub near me which uses 10 or so Control 1's to blast out their tunes in conjunction with a few Control 5 subs...the 1's are driven so hard the tweeter protection bulb is glowing constantly, bright enough to see the inside of the speaker light up through the port. Judging by the layer of dust on top, none have died and needed to be replaced either.

I guess the amp plate kills some low end, huh?
I see they are attenuating HF some and the Lpass is completely different, if I'm seeing it right.
Also, they omitted the woofer protector. What does this imply?

There's a "HF Adjust" switch on the amp: 0, +/- 3 dB.
That you're not gonna smoke it with 35W, maybe....
