Zilch's AK Design Collaborative - Econowave Speaker

E'Wave Installs

I've had the opportunity to E'Wave 2 tired pairs of EV Sentry 100A monitors with 8x8 waveguides pictured in the "A" Radio control room, and 6x6 waveguides used nearfield in the small "B" radio CR. Both have PC board x-overs from Jack's original artwork. The 8x8s use 220Tis and the 6x6s use clearance sale 18 Sound drivers.

CR "B" (6x6 waveguides)

My original E'Waves (from my avatar,) now upgraded with BMS 4550 HF, are temporarily mounted in soffit pockets of this muilti-track, post production control room. (I believe a woofer of this caliber has not been seen in a control room since the bad side of the seventies.) LCR positions will eventually have Four Pi monitors. Current x-over is CX3400 set at 1.2kHz, with Bryston 4B for the 123A-1s and Crown PS 200 for the BMS, flattened with Zilch's excellent compensation circuit. Genelec 7070A sub handles 85 Hz and below.

All sound great.

The 6x6? Very much. I lucked out in that I didn't have to change anything with this particular driver. With the 8x8 however, and the original crossover, there is a rolloff at the top, but it still sounds good. I did those before Zilch developed the tweak for the 8x8. I might update it, but no rush.

The 6x6 is cool. Screwed to a premium driver, BMS 4540 maybe, might be really good. :scratch2: (I also tried it with the 210Ti, as has Jack, and it sounds good.)

Please put me down for a pair of the DE250's and adapters. I have a pair of freshly refoamed LE14A's and an old pair of Barzilay 3.5 ft3 cabinets sitting here. It will be my second pair of EWG's.

Guys, let's lay off the group buy particulars within this thread/forum. It's something that will need to be Grumpy approved if discussed on this site. I'd hate to see this thread get killed off because of rules violations.

Whoops, you're right, it hadnt occurred to me. How should this be done, and what forum is appropriate? I didnt think of it as no one was profiting, but there is the discussion of how much and so on.....

Please advise,
Russellc

I just sent Grumpy a PM asking him to advise...I know the rules say you cant sell things, and while Wayne1 isnt, he is "procuring" ...help us Grumpy!

The best I can do is apologize for them.

I'm not in any way "connected," but I have never received any but the best of service from JBL Pro Parts, and consider Carla and Dave, particularly, to be friends of E'Wave.

If some larger issue beyond their control has developed, I'll just bring in a stock of these waveguides to get us past that....

My only 2 experiences were great. I do need another set, think I'll wait for this smoke to clear, sure its just a snafu, cant imagine they'd jack someone around over ten dollar wave guides?:dunno:

FYI, My first set took about 3+ weeks because they were back ordered so Im glad i ordered my second set the day my first set got here, took 4 days that time but i wasnt going to wait for them to run out again.:thmbsp:

And I would be cool with that, I could not reasonably expect them to produce something they did not have in stock. No problem. I wouldn't expect to be charged until they shipped, which has not been the case. But that was not what was what I was being told. The 4 to 5 days has turned into six weeks (first order) and three weeks (second order). And counting. None of that explains the promised Next-Day-Air that never occured or the promised phone call that was never made or the pawn-him-off-to-voicemail last evening. THAT"S what set me off.

Hey Z, I can't seem to find the dimentions for the 8X8 waveguide. I am trying to see if they will fit front to back.....as you suggested in an earlier post. Cheers.

WOOO HOO - At long last, we have waveguides!

Well, once you can get their attention, the place functions like a well oiled machine. Today received a box via FedEx Air from JBL Pro - three of the 338800 waveguides - why three? I don't know - I only ordered two. I called back to thank Jenny for returning my call and helping me out and insist that I pay for the extra waveguide and she was flabbergasted that they came today. "How did THAT happen?" Time to cut new front baffles for the Santanas!
