Thanks for the part number Zilch, I had wondered about that. Maybe (if not already) it should be listed along side the wave guide part number? On my way to order a few sets of them now!

There's weatherstrip, or sheet foam packing like AR used for sealing, or rope caulk for alternative gasket material. The stock gaskets are just more convenient.

Or alternatively, from McMaster-Carr (Mcmaster.com), closed cell neoprene foam tape, self adhesive, 1/16" thick, 1/2" wide by 50 feet long, $4.28 plus shipping. Part number is 8694K11.

The wave guides are once again out of stock at JBL. Apparently they no longer take back orders from credit card purchasers "Call back next month..."
 
I am considering having some small boxes made in order to implement the "podular" approach, used by some predecessors, with the baseline lo-sensitivity XOs and Pyle 6x12/D220Ti that I've assembled here for the two candidates. Then order the necessary parts to complete the units I wish to E-Wave unitize and use the pods to evaluate other candidates, perhaps with xo swap-out options.
The next step is to determine where the in-phase acoustical center axis falls with the loose HF drivers sitting ajacent to the woofs on the subject cabinets of the two candidates on hand.

I called to check on some other JBL WG's I've got on order that had to be transfered from a production area. I asked where instead of when this time... Survey says... China:sigh:

So I guess it's going to be a bit of a wait on those, and probably yours too.
 
The first listen to one side of the AR-6 E-Wave sounds like the the acoustical center of axis will be close enuff to straight-on with the 6X6 mounted to the baffle, the 6X12 sounds like it would have to come well forward but won't fit the baffle space anyways.

If the question is "Which is out of stock until mid June?" the answer is JBL part #338800-001, which is the 6x12. In April I was told to call after May 15. I've been trying to buy a single replacement 338800 since March.
 
Looks like more guys are building these ewaves than are reporting back
here on this thread. I have been waiting for almost a month on a crossover
part to build my second pair.Had to wait a month for the waveguides on
my first pair.:smoke:

I'll be putting together a 6x6 E'Wave for home, similar to the one I did earlier, but will use either Selenium D220 or B&C D210 and JBL Le8TH. Rest of the parts should get here soon.

hello, Zilch a question on the HF compensation Filter, as you have said what it really does it attenuate the mid frequencies down , for you to hear more of the higher frequencies. So wouldnt you be losing more of the mid range vocals or some instrument sounds then. I aslo have tried a little test with the bi amp version econo with a different 6x12 (look like the Eminence H295 CD horn) and it sound real good without the HF comp filter, vocal clarity clean and present. I haven't got the parts to actually make the HF comp filter as yet , so I could only do this test with a 3khz passive crossover and a dbx electronic crossover at 1.3khz for the Woofer- Bi Amped
 
I also have a pair of the Eminence ASD1001 HF Drivers, what crossover point would you recommend for these Drivers and can they work in the Econowave setup? or any advice how I could use these drivers?

If you're using a compression driver on a constant directivity horn or waveguide, you MUST use HF comp to produce a flat response. Read up here:

Jack engineered the E'Wave HF comp specifically for the Selenium D220Ti driver on this particular JBL PT waveguide, and it may or may not be suitable for other driver/horn/waveguide combinations. Wayne Parham discussed more generic approaches earlier in this thread; look up his posts using advanced "Search this Thread" at the top of this page. If you want to do this, you're going to have to rev up to speed with some response measurement capability to make it happen successfully, unless someone has already worked it out....

Any time I tried it like that it has sounded like ass. Humped up right in the "shout" zone, brittle upper mid-lower highs, then rolling off with no real highs to speak of. The compensation, like Zilch said above is the only way to get flat response. The compensation is required to remove these irregularities and get flat response out to 18-20k and remove the PA shout thing. You'll love it with proper crossover.
