AK Design Collaborative - Insignia-Class Economy Speakers (a.k.a Indignia)

The longest and most expensive Indignia project yet endeavored!!

Is finally done!!!!!!

After months of procrastination I have FINALLY finished these and they sound spectacular!

These will be going with my beloved Marantz 2285b and a Samsung DVD/SACD player to make up a nice little bedroom setup... :thmbsp:

Special thanks to Newman for all his help on these.

Congrats on the Indignias and double congrats on the sweet looking Marantz!:tresbon:

Congrats, Marantzfan! Welcome to the Indignia Club! They get even better after a few hours.

My Indignia parts arrived today (thanks RoyC). Now, when am I going to find the time to build them???

I'll be making the boxes out of 1" MDF so will be making them a bit deeper to compensate for the loss of 1/2" inside X and Y, and 1/4" loss from the depth.

These will likely replace my Speakerlab Thirtys in my workout system.

Aw, c'mon! I did the center channel. Can't I get a pass and let someone with some business sense do it?

Packing up S/N 1 & 2, the original prototype Indignias from before they had a name; going to Davis tomorrow for the Nor Cal DIY 2009 meeting.

Haven't played them for a month or two; hope they like 'em, 'cause I sure as hell do.... :thmbsp:

Please "publish the minutes" from that meeting, Zilch.

I couldn't wait for the group buy, I ordered all of the parts today. Updates will follow.

While you do save a little with a group buy, none of the components are expensive, drivers are bargains, you still get a fantastic speaker for the cash.

I did find two things many have agreed with:

1.) Mine took some while to break in and be really smooth.

2.) They are power hungry as hell, one of the trade offs to allow its bass
response.

Plus, if you manage to kill a driver, its really inexpensive to replace any of them!

The Nor Cal meeting went very well; we made a bunch of new friends and heard about a dozen DIY systems today.

It'll be several days before the "Official" minutes are posted, most likely, but the AK Design Collaborative projects (and my "Tales of AudioKarma") received a welcome reception.... :thmbsp:

Thanks, Mr. Z! Looking forward to it.

Let's hear the podcast of the speech please....

Some of us are far away and jealous.
