MC352 vs. MC205 - would I miss my mc352?

Currently I have a 5 channel setup with a smorgishboard of amplification. an mc352 for my mains as I LOVE music and HT is secondary. I have an outlaw monoblock running my center and a rotel amp running my surrounds....

I sure would like to consolidate my ampification into one unit but am afraid of letting go of my mc352? Which i love by the way.

Keep the MC352 and get a mc303 for the center and surrounds.

you will miss the MC352.....especially the autoformers. You could consider an MC7104 4 channel amp. You could bridge two channels for your center and use the remaining two channels for the rears. Or, get the MC7106.. 6 channels. Bridge it down to 3 x 200w and run that with the MC352.

I like Ryan's advice and that is pretty much what I ended up doing. I first went from a MC7205 to a MC207 and then to a MC402 and a MC7106 for the center and surrounds. I then sold the 402 and went with a pair of 501s for the fronts. I still have the 7106 for the center and surrounds but I would like to eventually upgrade.

The MC205 and MC207 are good amps, but the MC352, MC402, and MC501 are great amps and really shine. To my ears they sound significantly better than the HT multi-channel amps.

I may just use a rotel RMB-1095 for now and save up.

I understand completely. I wish that there was a good three channel amp available that was not super expensive.... How does that Rotel sound? I se them used for about a grand on audiogon. Is it quiet? I was also thinking about getting a Rowland 201 or a 501 for my center, but I can never see them sold as a single...

Look at an ATI 1803. GREAT value and U.S. made. Plus, have been in business for a LONG time.

The rotel sound good. It is just a different sound from Mcintosh and did not blend so well when I tried one. Excellent value however.

That was what I was worried about. I would like to find a better amp for my center channel speaker as it is a fairly large and while the mc7106 is good, I think the rest of my system would do better with a better center. (I am also a little space constrained too!)

I also have a MX119 with a MC352 for the main channels and am planning on hooking up my 7106 to run the surrounds and center. The 7106 has a multipin input to make it easy to connect to MX preamps without all the RCA cables. Can the pins be designated if you want to bridge the amp or change channels or are you stuck with the predetermined set up?
