I have wanted one of theses receivers for the longest time and I know that at best they are a $350 and that is high when compared to prices others have gotten them for .usually I have heard of someone who found one on craiglist picked on up for sub $100s . I have never seen one on ebay and our local craigslist sucks . so am i doomed to never own one ?
or am I doing something wrong. I would even buy a broken one if available.

I know they were not considered to be that great but they must have something going for them as it seems when they get bought they get kept
I have had 5 pioneer SX-1980s by some accounts the best receiver ever (not my opinion)guess I will still look but not expect any results...........

The audio gods are testing you.
Have you sacrifised a metaphorical lamb lately?
no but if it will help I would do so.I did post a wanted ad here with no reply .I think there is an AKer hoarding all the things I want and I am sure someone here has one that he no longer wants so eventually he will cut loose.and as far as the ones that were for sale on ebay I have seen none I have seen a couple of Rotels that I wanted but I am unable or unwilling to pay $1200 to get one and so far I am not the only one as they have not come close to their reserves

Hitachi electronics just isn't that common in the US. I'm deeply interested in their aluminum cone accordian angled pleat speakers but have never see a single one.

It seems that the vintage Japanese names, while not "collectors" are great stuff. When folks get their hands on a good Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Onkyo, etc they tend to hold on to them.
And not many were imported. At that time, we made some pretty good stuff here in the US. The Japanese made some great stuff, but had problems with name brand recognition and marketing.
Same with cars.
they seem to have sorted all that out:D

one will come along
