Zilch's AK Design Collaborative - Econowave Speaker

These drivers appear to be interesting! Would these mate well with a delux?
We're back to modularity.

Can the Deluxe driver, waveguide, and highpass filter be considered modular and mated with other woofers?

Yes.

How about the lowpass, will it work with others?

Indeterminate -- this is DIY -- you're on your own.

Note that, in detail, the crossovers for Deluxe and Deluxe HO are different.

Note also that "Flex Your Mettle" describes a method for customizing EconoWave designs....

Get it ON Byrd!

Someone on another forum once again reported that QSC waveguides were unavailable; I'm pleased to hear that is apparently not true.... :dunno:

Not all QSC webshop links work, so you have to search in the right 'way' to get to them (& some parts nrs. changed). 2 days ago they were available! :)

I know not all of the links work, and then I tried searching for them on the site with no luck, but how I found them was opening the page with ALL of the replacement parts on it and did a text search. Found the little buggers and put two in the cart and checked out!

OK, here is a little update and a problem.

I recieved the Zilch boards and parts from P.E. and assembled the crossovers last night. The Obla-waves now have much better detail and seperation between instuments. The timber increase and is very robust but mellow. The highs are very smooth and the horn integrates much better with the line array.

However, the imaging went to hell. It sounds like it is playing in mono. I have traced, re-traced, and re-traced again, all the connections on the board and those coming and going off the board. Everthing looks fine.

Any idea whats going on? Before the new xovers, they imaged like crazy.

hung these last night
Got them hung up tonight

Yes they are level!

They sound really good, and I mean really good. Just moving around tonight and every thing just seemed balanced where the sound wouldn't change. Details are there, bass is there, a little bit lacking in mids. They just complement the fronts so well. They are a franken 10e build, they uses all of the stuff from the 10e build but I switched the woofer to a dayton 10" pro and the 152i waveguide.

And the whole crew

Great job on those Stgdz. I really dig the center chanel on your HT. Is that the JBL mid and tweet combo will woofs on each side? That is way cool too.

Man that 2.25mm excursion kills that driver. I hope it has more mechanical than that and still has decent Bl to at least 10mm. At 20 watt input in just about any box, it just starts to go beyond the Xmax. . .
This is optimum ported (2.35 cuft tuned to 35 Hz) vs. optimum Q=.707 sealed (1.35 cuft).. I think it will work! :scratch2:

I just now did the same. Here's the still-working link if anyone needs it. No idea when or if I'll really get the waveguides.
