So it's a good thing to go get I guess. Am I correct in thinking that this has 2 monoblocks in it? 30wpc a piece? I have been looking for some tubes to go with my Klipsch Forte II's/ Khorns but not knowing much I was unsure if this would fit the bill without having to do too much messin' around with it.
 
so i looked again and read it over , it is 7591 / 6l6gc type of stereo prw amp with a seperate pre-tuner-...the amp and pre-tuner by fisher....are ya back yet...speakers could be very valuable in there but i cant see... just go get it and cry about it later.
 
OK, I have e-mailed the owner and will see what happens. Thanks for the encouragement. :thmbsp: Once the wife sees it I'm sure I will be crying later.

I heard back from the owner and go to look at it tomorrow. He says that it sounds great and he said that he also had a pair of Fisher 'surround speakers' that go with it. I believe he said that they were the WS1 speakers ? but I could be wrong about the model #'s...... Will have to do a bit of research on those. He also said that he would work with me on the price........

i have seen fishers in the cabs and i have seen tannoy gold monitors in them at another time....good luck if it is there tomorrow...hope to hear you have it...let us know...
 
Well I picked it up and boy it is a heavy son-of-a-Gunderson. It is a Fisher Ambassador V. The AM and FM seem to work but he left side is a slight bit weaker than the right as far as sound output goes. I guess that that could anything from a dirty pot to ??? (heck, it's 47 years old) Got all the paperwork with it, which is cool. It says that it is 60watts IHFM standard, both channels. 190 watts total power consumption including turntable. So I am guessing that it is around 30wpc. Is this correct?
It has 6 speakers in the cabinet that are Fisher brand and 2 WS1 'surround' speakers that also came with it. Now I have to try and get it out of the car...... Any tips on how I should proceed? Should I just take out the amp. preamp/tuner and take it to someone local that specializes in tube gear and just give it to them and say go for it? That seems and bit dangerous as I don't have tons of cash and don't really know what to expect as far as what it will cost to bring this back up to factory specs.

Sorry, It also has a Garrard Deluxe type A automatic TT and a very cool "MicroRay tuning indicator" that seems to work as it should, haven't tried the TT.
 
Welcome to the 2 ton console club, if you like the looks and plan on using it and don't want to attempt a recap on your own. I would say go for it, its something you plan on selling in the near future don't take it in, you'll never see the $$$ back, pull the amp and tuner and dump the carcass at the goodwill store. The problem with consoles is that the speakers were always so so and never space far enough apart, what I have heard is that fisher built his speakers with his listening needs in place. So if you aren't Avery Fisher you probably won't find them to your liking. :D
 
Thanks for the welcome and input cooljjay. I had planned on keeping the amp and possibly the preamp/tuner to use with some of my Klipsch speakers so I would feel better to have someone with more experience look this over. From all that I have read on this Fisher it should sound really nice with a little TLC.
I really don't like the look of the console and it is to big for my home/man cave so I will probably ditch that. Not sure what I will do with the TT and speakers though.
