Let's see your Fisher gear!

My Fisher 500-C

First in a temporary setup with a Sony 5520 and an iPod:

(Dave Brubeck The Fantasy Years, I think, is playing on the platter above)

And now in a more permanent home with a Marantz 6300 and Sony SCHP-1001:

(Count Basie is playing here, with the Mills Brothers, I think)

Very Very Nice. I like it. Hope you happy with it. :thmbsp:

This is a KX-200 I've had since around 1999. Its in very very good shape, all recapped in 99. Telefunken smooth plate 12ax7's for preamp and driver tubes. Sylvania 12ax7s in phono preamp.

And a pair of SA-300's I had at one time. I had the cages at the time, simply had them stored away.

I've had many many Fisher units pass through my hands over the years. [Edited by Moderator] Trying to get my hands on some high end 1970s Yamaha equipment.

I never did nail down the name of the consolette this comes from. Mono FM is surprisingly nice sounding.

The sound stage is huge. This is really unexpected, and I like it.:D

I'll never look down on consoles again...

I really like the look of those early Fisher consolettes. If it has a 3-speed changer it should be the 1956 Series 202 consolette; a 4-speed changer was introduced on the 1957 Series 60. The cabinets for the first two generations of Fisher consolettes appear to have been identical. The only difference between the two was the changer. What chassis number is that?

My new to me 800c on the bottom. All the face plate lights are out. As soon as i can afford to put in in the shop
for safety work/overhaul/upgrade i will. 3-6 weeks. I'm planning on leaving the original patina and case as is.
Might rub a lil Formby's on the case at some point.

The model number "60" is stamped into a blue tag. It has an RC-121 changer in it.

Wow! You've got the matching extension "SS" speaker system, too. Very nice. With the 4-speed RC-121 changer and a "60" chassis I feel fairly confident that you've got an "early" 1957 Series 60 consolette, model number 60-B ("B" for Blonde).

I say "early" because the '57 Fisher console catalog that Jonboy55 recently posted in the Fisher Consoles 1959-1965 sticky has what I have always thought of as the 1958 Series 51/61 consolettes. I think that - because 1957 had such breakthrough models as the new stereo President and Executive - Fisher may have been so late in getting the catalog out that some of the '58s snuck in. Fisher's advertising tends to support this theory.

Here's an ad for the Series 60 from Feb. 1957:

Is there an 60-W (walnut), -F (fruitwood) etc. indicating the 60 chassis/finish?

Whatever Fisher coated the wood with is coming off in spots. Is it varnish?

Yes, the letter code at the end of Fisher's console model numbers indicates the wood/finish. The wood used in your Series 60 looks like oak in your photos. Is that what it is?

The finish on my '60 Fisher Premiere appears to be lacquer. It is very moisture sensitive. However, my '59 Series 510 consolette appears to have some sort of varnish. It has tiny cracks running along with the grain and does not show any of the hazy areas that I associate with lacquer exposed to moisture. Lacquer vs. varnish could be a 1950s vs. 1960s Fisher thing or, more probably, a high-end vs. low-end Fisher thing.

Your Fisher, being a petite blonde model, is a prime candidate for a make-over. I recommend hand-sanding through the damage on top and then staining to match. The damage looks superficial so it could easily be a weekend project and well worth the effort.

ok time to add my two cents worth.

here is my fisher 500b, in stunning rusty pitted ratty condition, but its my baby! this was the receiver that got me into vintage stereo! it was my first one ever. scored it when i was 9 years old!, then my sweet little 200t in premo shape, and also my 440t, that needs help. the best part is, i didnt spend any more than $25.00 on all three together lol!!

Any ideas on restoration? :scratch2:

Steve

Has this been cleaned at all?

It's amazing how some of them clean up. There are plenty of little cleaning tricks for these. If you saw our one 800B when we first found it . . .

Is it running? A see a hot dial lamp.

Knobs and brights are easy enough to find.

The iron and chassis tell the tale whether one is worth a full-bore restoration.

The face plate looks like it has lacquer degradation BAD!!!! If it doesn't clean up then Worst Case, you may have to strip the lacquer off, silkscreen the lettering, and re-lacquer.

Good Luck.

Sa 300

Well it was mine for a short time anyway...:tears:
I think I will always regret selling it.Until I "find" another one ! :D

Here's my much treasured and fully restored X-101-C.
It's been completely redone. All electrolytics are new. Inside I used all Jensen Copper Foil in Oil coupling caps except for the output couplers, which are Russian .1uf 600V K40Ys because the diameter of the equivalent Jensen wouldn't fit in the cabinet. The power transformer buzzed and I had to disassemble it and shellac it. That information is here:

For the guts, go here:

This is the only integrated sized cabinet I've ever found with a genuine Fisher sticker on it. I fully restored it.

These are the vanity shots.
I sure enjoy the listening. Enjoy the show.

OK guys I didn't see one in this thread so here is the first Fisher 100T. The pics were taken the day I brought her home. That was a year ago and still haven't put power to her. I have cleaned the chassis and faceplate with some warm soapy water and am currently getting the parts and tubes to do the re-build this winter. Jim McShane is putting together a kit for me. I picked up an MPX-65 a while back and am hopeing that the Fisher Doc can come through with the install kit, he's looking for it now. I got this unit along with a Leak Stereo 50 which I have just finished rebuilding and an Ampex 960 R2R for free from a friend who's father had passed away and she just wanted someone to have them who would appreciate them. Her father had bought them new and they were built into the family house. When I got them they didn't work and allmost all the tubes tested either no good, shorted or barely good. I am sure to be posting for some help when I get started. I'll try to get some more recent pics if you are interested.

Fisher 700T

Here is my Fisher 700T that I bought new in 1967. Except for a couple bulbs being out, it is all original and functioning perfectly.
