Literally, it may not be an AK issue, but the fact that it's coming from adverts through the AK portal, in my opinion, makes it an AK issue. Something needs to be done with these third party ads...if it means increasing a subscription rate to get rid of these ads, then so be it.
Any updates on this from the system admins? I am all up to date running antivirus and am still a little nervous to come visit AK.
if it was from AK then everyone would be getting attacked.
I'm not along with a lot of other people.
Let my preface this by saying I am neither an admin nor a computer expert, so I don't know all the fine details of the work that's been done, that sort of thing is way above my pay-grade.
With that said, here's what I do know:
The problems come from multiple sources, and none of those sources come from within AK, its servers or its native vBulletin software. As sources have been identified (using the reports of those affected), the admins have gone to great lengths to block that source from accessing AK. As these sources have been blocked the frequency of reports has decreased.
It is imperative that anyone encountering these sorts problems in the future, give us as much information as possible about it in this thread, or by contacting any of the moderation staff or admins. By compiling this information we'll be better able to identify where these things are coming from, and stop them.
I'd like to repeat that this is almost certainly a Flash/Adobe vulnerability. I do all the recommended Adobe updates and have never seen so much as a warning on AK.
Good for you, but I have, and I'm probably close to anal as it gets about updates. I'm by no means a computer expert, but neither was I born at night and certainly not last night when it comes to running/maintaining a PC. :thmbsp:
im also still getting a popup as after the first thing i click each time I turn my computer on and nothing seems to get rid of it.

He probably is infected with the fake windows security program. You can get rid of it, it just takes a load of patience.
Turn off pop-ups in your web browser.
As this site gets more popular you will see the hackers go after this site. *Advertisement - not by the owners or mods of this site - just a member* That is why any donations to AK are welcome and needed to keep things up to date and running smoothly.
