Right side of CA-1010 crackles on power up

Folks:
My CA-1010 which has recently had several hundred $$$$ put into it (in the last six months) is now crackling out of the left speaker when I first switch it on on the morning. The crackling - not too loud or explosive but certainly wrong - lasts for 30 seconds or so and then is silent. I can turn it off and then come back later in the day and it is still silent. However, over night and I get crackles. NOTE: This is the amp - source doesn't change anything. Please advise.
Thanks,
Mike

Has the protect relay been replaced ? Is the crackling before or after the protect relay " click " ?

Crackling

avionic:
The crackling is after the protection relay click.

bktheking:
Thanks. I'm trying to isolate the source/cause of the crackling so I don't have to be at the mercy of the tech who, even after beaucoup bux already spent, will undoubtedly find "things" to do...

Thanks for the responses gents,
Mike

Has the protect relay been replaced ?

Noisy front end transistors -- cold solder connections--dirty switches/controls..

Sigh...

avionics:
Thanks for the input. The tech said he re-flowed all the solder connections and cleaned all switches, replaced capacitors, etc. I know he had to do some work on the protection relay but I don't recall what... I would have thought he would have caught this issue already but I suppose a transistor can "go bad" after only a few months of use... Guess I'll just have to take it back to him for a third time... (hence the sigh...).

I rebuilt a 2270, sold it, got it back 2 months later with a noisy diff pair- it happens. I bought my Ma6100 from a guy who had it in for repair 5 times for repair before I repaired it.

Maybe its time for a second opinion or a fresh set of eyes or ideas.

Folks:
Thanks for the input. As far as I know, there is only one tech in my area (Syracuse) and he's the one that has worked on it already. I think I'm stuck taking it back to him again.

You might want to suggest he holds on to it and use it for a week or so after he fixes it to make sure nothing else pops up. Vintage gear can be a bear to get perfect.

Hi mnilan. I have the exact same problem with my Marantz 2325. Does the crackling sound start low, increase in volume then fade out to silence? That's what mine has started doing - only in one channel like yours - mine is the right channel. I'd be interested to find out what they determine the problem is and if there's any danger in operating it while it does this. Thanks!

That sounds like a noisy diff pair. Measure dc on the suspect channel. If it bounces around then stabilizes id bet my money.

Ca1010 has a coupler switch in the back. Separate the pre from the amp and listen, if it still does it the issue is in the amplifier.
