Thank you for buying the table.....now that Jan Guy has someone else to harass! Take about a year to get it up and running, and we can probably drive him around the bend.:D

Has to have two pretty small holes to mount the arm (not sure what the 3rd hole is for). How about a Grado "Lab Series"?:

Message from the seller:

"As far as the tonearm is concerned, it had a wood Grado tonearm mounted that I chose to remove for the sale. The wiring has gone bad inside the arm (corrosion & age) and I figured it would be better to sell the near mint table without the faulty tonearm. Most Thorens guys like an Ortofon or SME arm for the TD124 anyway."
 
Regarding the mysterious clear plastic thing taped under the platter:

"I was wondering about that myself. My thought was that it must have been some sort of an accessory pack or parts pack that was taped there from the factory??"
 
That Thorens looks very clean - Combined with the SME arm and the Fisher 400, that is going to be one sweet setup. What speakers are you using?

My listening room is small-ish, so I am using a pair of Rega R1 mini-monitors on sand-filled stands with an RBH powered sub. The Regas are phenomenal little speakers and do a more than adequate job of filling the room, although they would get a bit lost in a larger space. They image holographically, are quite accurate from the top down to about 65k (where the sub takes over), have very high resolution and clarity, and work beautifully with tubes. A friend of mine, who owns a pair of super-nice Spendor BBC monitors, says that they sound like his speakers, but just on a smaller scale.

If/when I move into a larger listening room, I'll have to upgrade to larger speakers, but for now they fit my needs very nicely.

I'd see if the seller would be wiling to let you take that Grado arm off his hands, seeing as how it's just corroded and faulty. :D

I thought of that, but my guess is he's going to fix it up and sell it later. He deals a lot of vintage hifi gear.

check the bottom bearing cap for distortion (dome-ing) if so I have material left over from doing MrPig's TD124 thrust assembly. :yes:
