Papi Chulo's back!

I am pretty sure it's the same guy. The Sansui gear he has listed on ebay is EXACTLY the same he had about a month ago on Audiogon.

At that time, I inquired if I could have Fedex pick it up for me, he said it was OK, but he never gave me his exact location. It's odd that he wanted "x" dollars for a dead AU-X1 and then he sold it on ebay for twice as much!

This guy's range of goods has increased since I made the comments that my 'spidey sense' wasn't tingling.

I would tend to agree now after looking at the link again. I feel fairly certain that this is the recurrent scammer once again.

Anyone know this bloke's nationality?

I'm just asking as I've seen "Papi" as a Christian name somewhere before.

From what I understand, "Papi chulo" is Hispanic slang for "sugar daddy". Could be wrong, though. The name originated as this clown's eBay username years ago, and all the ads said the person was selling all this high-end equipment for their "papi chulo".

Do I have the facts straight?

Also interesting is that "rego_rego" will ship the current items free anywhere in the US, but recommends the buyer pay an extra $50 for the UPS Store to pack it. What, was he going to slap a UPS sticker on the bare amp and toss it on the truck? :screwy:

Ah, thanks.

Came across this "Papi" nick when I had some dealings with a Chilean scammer.

It looks like his Sansui au-a907 plus cd will be closing on the auction site in 16hrs. Poor bidders don't have a clue.

not exactly, papi and mami are terms of endearment between couples, chulo is basically a macho guy

I got scammed by that guy before I knew about him.

I received my item (a Sansui AU-X1) but the main transformer was burned out on it.

It was packaged like crap and took a beating from shipping. So I had what was once a beautiful classic sitting in front of me...worthless.

Ebay agreed with my issues and I sent the item back to the seller. The auction was very deceptive. Got my money back from Paypal.

So at least I held an AU-X1 in my arms...for a minute....but never got to hear it.:tears:

Thank you for identifying the practices which can be adopted by some sellers. |Great that you were able to retain your financial input via the efforts of a team of players.

Papi Chulo aka Rego Rego Resurfaced Again.

Be forewarned guyz....

This seller has resurfaced under many names. While he may have some good items, it is very highly questionable about the item conditions and whether he really has them in his possession or not.

You DON'T (DON'T) Want to send him any payment unless he agrees to demo the gear and do a local pickup.

Papi Chulo / aquablueone / rego rego seems to be the same person who is out to rip off the unsuspecting buyers. You will get a lot more troubles more than worth.

Spread the word around. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

I think he might have resurfaced on Audiogon under "le_cacique".

It might be a very strange coincidence, but as fas as I remember, Papi Chulo was located in Queens, NY and he always had Accuphase interconnects for sale. :scratch2:

I have been watching that guy for a month now, with the same reservations.
