My attempt to change the "Tape out" to a "Pre-out" sure paid off! With the help of Onplane, I picked up the signal inside the Mac 1700 the runs from the Pre-amp to the power amp. I removed the old "tape out" and replaced it with the 2 pre-amp leads.
The sound is undoughtedly the Mcintosh sound I have read about so much on the forums. The Mac 1700 sounded good by itself, but with the Mc2205 it is simply amazing.
I do think my rectilinear woofers are going to need new surrounds now... oops haha.

As to why I did this: I got the Mc2205 for free and the Mac 1700 for $20 with the understanding I would be restoring them and using them. I also love to do stuff myself.

A special thanks to Onplane! This guy is great. He answered all my silly questions and followed through until the project was finished. He knows his stuff and the community is lucky to have him around.:thmbsp:
