Altec's I can't afford near Detroit

Yeah, maybe a tad pricey. 8 ohm components and system, so maybe not as desirable as the 846A Valencia in those terms. For a few hundred less they'd be "safe" in the sense that you could probably always break at least even with them. In the current economic climate i'd expect to see a price adjustment before they move.

There's something about the fit and finish of the Altec for Heath components that makes them a little more pleasing cosmetically, and also the cabinets are of a bit higher quality than similar Altecs.

Just my .02.............................

Is it me or is there a lot of Altecs around lately? maybe its because I picked up a pair myself that the Altec cognition has taken place.....

price is down to $750.00

Where does the ad say that??? :scratch2:

Price is down to $750 but the cabinets are no longer included? :sigh:

Yeah, I didn't get that either....... I did notice he mentioned VOTT. Maybe he figured presenting them in that light would get him a sale, but figured the Heathkit cabinets would be distracting with the new angle??

Hi guys. My first post. I bought the components tonight. I didn't take the cabinets. I thought they sounded strangled and they wouldn't fit in my VW. So we took them apart and put the drivers in my car.

He remarked that his price was $900 with the cabs and $750 for the components. I offered him a lesser amount for the components and he agreed.

Looking to build some Onken 360L cabs and maybe swap out the 806's for some GPA 902's. I haven't had a stereo since I sold my Model 19's in 2005. Now I'm a homeowner with the perfect place for some Altec slam.

I was too busy hiding them from the wife to throw a meter on them. I believe the Heathkit labels say 8 Ohms, but I've read they're not always correct.
