Some already know of the start of this project but this is the official build thread for those that don't.
Today this 49 pound package showed up at my doorstep (I'm embarrassed to say how anxiously I was waiting for these today!)

Here is one of the woofers on top of my Speakerlab Super Seven which is 20"Wx15"Dx30"H

Here are some of the other parts I'm going to use, three satin nickel spikes per speaker, and these very nice dayton gold plated posts.
There will be two of these 4" flared ports (overall front diameter is 7.25") and each will be effectively 5" long which is the minimum length.

I will warn you that this will be a slow moving build due to it being a collaboration of the skills and wallets of not only myself but my friend (who will ultimately keep them) his step father (who will help with the cabinet) and two other investors.

Looks like something I would have built back in my youth. Going to make your own boxes?

Quite a conflict compared to the mags!
 
Ok, I'm officially tracking this thread. Have a set of 2226Hs in JBl cabinets now along with a set of JBL 2380 horns waiting for an assignment.

We are building a cabinet.
The front will be rectangular (like most cabinets!) but will have the top left and bottom right corner substantially rounded probably a radius of 4" or more.
This will be mirrored on the other speaker.
We are having all panels CNC routed.
There will be two sub-baffles made of 3/4" MDF which will be joined front to back with something very sturdy, thick planks or maybe steel tubing.
Then we will attach a 1/2" apple plywood baffle to that which will be 1" larger in all dimensions with a slightly larger woofer hole to flush mount the 2226Hs.
The waveguides may be flush mounted as well.
The sides will be four layers of some 1/4" material which will be bent (probably with stress cuts (forgetting the technical term here) to facilitate that.
There will also be a shelf brace likely of 3/4" MDF between the woofer and the waveguide.
The rear panel will have the two 4" flared ports because they would not fit on the face without making the speaker too tall or too wide for our tastes.
We will be having an anodized aluminum plate for the binding posts, which I will laser engrave with speaker info maybe everyones name or something.
Things left up to be decided are damping materials, I want to try out lead lining under fiber glass. There is a local lead company which sells 1/64" lead with a pattern stamped into it that they call "acoustic lead" which seems interesting, it'd cost about $50-75 for enough lead to line the whole cabinet or at least the sides and back.
I already have plenty of poly fill which we can try in the mean time.

Budget for this was supposed to be ~$800 but it looks like it'll be $1k+
I never planned on spending my own money on this project but I don't want the budget to be a factor in the end product so I've chipped in almost $200 of my own money into these suckers.

If anyone would like to donate I can engrave your name onto the binding post plates!

This sounds like an interesting project. The 2226 is a great driver and one I have used in a couple different cabinets including the ones below.

However, I guess I don't quite understand your corner radius-ing idea.. Are you rounding the edges like these?

We are radius-ing the front to back edge, not the front edges.
I will try to get a 3-D mockup posted.
 
Yeah- Yeah- Yeah!!! to this project!. Did you simulate bass response of
the 2226 in that ported enclosure?, what would be your F-3 ?.
Secondly, these blue grills on your Speakerlabs, where's the cloth from?
it's cool looking! (JBL blue?)...
