Mini helps SPCA in NZ teach dogs to drive

In order to show how smart shelter dogs are and to encourage people to support the SPCA and adopt a shelter animal, Mini has sponsored the training of three dogs to drive a dog friendly modified Mini. They even have a contest to enter to win an excursion with the dog driving you.

One of my favorite bits of documentary film ever was an American family who lived with a pet orangutan they'd taught to drive. The film showed the whole family in the car on a highway roadtrip, totally engaged in a game of "I Spy", while the orangutan was driving.

Actually, he looked like he was doing just fine.

The written driver exam test could be a problem for dogs.

If I could train my dog to drive, we can qualify to drive in the high occupacy (diamond) lane?

But then he would want his own radio pre-sets....
