A new approach to telemarketing...

The other day, I got home to find a message waiting for me on my phone. Probably like a bunch of other people here, I don't have a physical answering machine, it is all taken care of by the cable box from Verizon. I see a little envelope on the phone screen, and a broken dial tone when I hit the dial button.

I didn't recognize the number, but I went into my voicemail anyway just to delete the message, which I can only do by playing it first. Something must have happened when the telemarketer recorded announcement played. Either it started too soon, or my voicemail started recording too late. Whatever happened, the message sounded like this :

"Bitch! You have been selected for... (blah blah)"

I thought it was so funny at the time, I'm not sure what word got cut off to make "bitch". Or maybe it's a new approach to telemarketing? Insult the person before making your sales pitch. How long before we hear :

"Hey stupid! XYZ company has a great deal on replacement windows."

or

"Dummy! The factory warranty on your car has expired. Now is your chance to buy an extended warranty from us."
