Mcintosh 4100 Phono Stage MC capable?

Anyone know if you can use an MC cartridge with the onboard phono stage for the 4100 amp? I've used it for years with a MM but was thinking about trying something else. Not interested in a preamp so if it can't be done i'll just stick with what works-

It appears your McIntosh 4100 only has a MM input, so you'd need a head amp or step up transformer if you want to use the Phono input on your receiver. I use a Denon HA-500 with my Denon DL-301 MkII. It sounds great.

You can use a high output moving coil, but not the low as most MC carts are without some sort of step up preamp.

Yes, MM and High Output MC fine as is. Low output MC needs Step-Up transformer or head amp.
