Kenwood KA 9100 heatsink color / paint?

anderslober

Yikes...not again!
I would like to paint the heatsinks of a ka9100. The color of the heatsinks isn't black...rather dark gray.

What color did any of you use who have painted them?

Thanks.

Heat sinks are usually anodized or powder coated... I would not recommend painting them with anything, as this will significantly reduce their ability to dissipate heat as intended.

Yes...you are right. However the ka9100 heatsinks look painted. The 'paint' chips of in a few areas................

if just fixing a few chips... nailpolish or a marker will do... and yes, you can find nailpolish in that color...

And good powdercoating isn't that expensive. Its generally cheaper and more effective that trying to do it yourself.

Find a local powdercoater who also has an acid bath and ask them how much for cash! If you go for black, most will tack your job on to the end of a big run just for beer money.

The guys I use charge me $35 for a case or heatsink and they reckon that the finish they put on will be better and last longer than the original one.
