I have found out that some of the Zenith Trans-Oceanic 600's have an asbestos pad under the chassis. When you pull the radio's chassis out of the box you will see if it is there and it is of a dangerous type that puts out particulates. With this in mind If you are going work on the radio take it outside put on a mask to take the radio out of the cabinet. If you see the pad use Murphy's Oil Soap to clean the insides. Murphy's soap oil is formulated to clean wood follow it's instructions for use. Make sure all signs of the pad are gone you may have to use a scrapper. Put anything you used to clean it is a double plastic page for disposal. Let the cabinet completely dry and than spray the insides with Krylon Workable Fixatif this is a clear sealant that will seal in any asbestos that might remain.
