Hi,
I found some older threads with HDMI switch recommendations. An Oppo was mentioned but it has been discontinued.
Basically I need a good, reliable, HDMI switch. I had purchased a Panlong brand from Amazon, but it's acting too "flaky" for my liking. The sound and picture quality are fine, it's just that I can't get sound to consistently output from the optical out. If the TV is shut off, good luck trying to get that output back! It requires a sequence of unplugging power from the switch, unplugging input and output cables, switching matrix selections over and over, mashing the remote, and doing some sort of magic dance while whistling dixie! It has all the features I want, at a good price, just too flaky. I'm going to return it and try a Monoprice. I'll update this thread if it works any better. If anyone has any recommendations, let's hear 'em! If this Monoprice doesn't work any better, I might have to bite the bullet and get an expensive one, like the DVDO switch 6. However, at $350, I feel like I should just try to get a receiver or processor if I'm going to spend that much!
Here are my requirements:
1) 4 x 2 matrix (4 inputs, 2 outputs) or greater
2) 3D support
3) Optical or coaxial audio output...preferably on all channels, but at least one channel
4) Remote
5) Reliable!!!!! Consistent switching, no rebooting, no unplugging, no "magic dance" required.
Here are the ones I've looked at so far:
Panlong 4x2 (returning it)

Monoprice 4x2 (on order)

DVDO Switch 6 - considering, but more than I want to spend...receiver or processor recommended instead?
