New to me Fisher 100T, what amp?

I picked up a Fisher 100T today that also came with a Fisher MPX100. I wanted the MPX to go with my TA600....anyway..
The Fisher 100T already has the MPX50 installed and after some checking and running it with the light bulb circuit the 100T came alive....

I decided to run it through the AUX on a 500B to hear how it sounds and was
amazed how much better it sounds than the 500B alone. The FM is clear and with depth and I hooked an MP3 through the 100T and had so much ...more!
I did a side to side comparison and was impressed with the 100T. The preamp let me really dial in the sound and would like incorporate the 100T with an amp.

This even with the 100T having a leaky filter can and a few leaking caps(it's turned off good until the overhaul)

My problem is I have only intergrated amps X202B and KX200, is there any advantage-disadvantage of using them instead of just a power amp. I do like the sound of 7591 tubes...

thx

The biggest disadvantage is the risk of overdriving the amp/pre on the x202B or KX200. No sense in having 2 preamps. Find a 7591 amp or even a 7189 amp in stereo (480-481A) I think you'll like the sound of them compared to the 7591's.

Larry,
Thanks...It does seem redundant to use one of those amps...I bet a 7189 PP would sound nice with it...

Another question for anybody....

I would like to clean the glass on this but I have never seen a Fisher receiver with glass clips like these...What's the secret to removing the glass on this type..?

The chassis cleaned up great as did the faceplate, but the glass is all dusty....

Take a small round paint brush and wrap Kleenex or toilet paper around the shaft. Wipe from side to side lightly inside. The clips untwist from the back, but more often than not the assembly line workers twisted them more than necessary and they are weak now to untwisting. You might be able to save one side. That's why the paint brush with paper on it. DON'T wet anything or you risk losing the lettering.

Thanks again Larry, now I see what you are talking about....

The Kleenex and paint brush is a god idea, I can live with some dust, this thing made it through 50+ years in nice shape and I don't want to be the one to mess it up.....

A SA-16 is a good match for the 100-T. You could also go with 2 monoblocks (30A's) or something like that. Don't limit yourself to just FISHER , and tubes. You can use Solid State amps.

Larry,

I had only realized how how good tube equipment a couple of years ago..(slow learner)

One of the first things I came accross was a Sargent Rayment SR534 EL84 power amp...I have since been blown away with Fisher equipment and put the SR aside...I'll pull that out and hook it up to the 100T because the sound really impressed me...

I do have an issue with the power amp, the internal circuit is completed only with the SR pre amp hooked up(I also have that, but for another forum).

I will have it pulled apart and rewired so I can power it up as a seperate...
and then hear how the 100T stands by itself.....I love this stuff...
The 100T fits perfect in the case for my 100B...Something about the old brass face plates...
