Old acoustic panels

Hi, room treatment gurus.

I acquired some old acoustic foam from an area tv studio that was closing. Aside from being a bit dusty, they are also a bit discolored. You can see that they look green up front, but their natural color appears to be blue when looking at the back of the panel.

They have plenty of spring left in them. Do you think, they are still viable for use in a listening room?

Auralex is better than nothing, but not as effective at broadband absorption as OC703 or rockwool (SafeNSound). Hang em up and see what you think.....I'm sure they'll do more good than bad. Well, wrt acoustics, that is. Whether or not you can live with the contribution they make to the decor is up to you.

Interesting how a commercial studio was using something so feeble as foam stuff as acoustic treatment.

It was probably being used to kill off echo in a room used for doing voice spots. Probably worked well enough for their purposes at least.
