CR-440 Relamp

That's not how this works
I found a CR-440 at an antique store about 3 weeks ago. Went back the next week, it was still there, so I brought the poor thing home. eBay units were running 60 to over 100 with shipping, I don't think I got hurt for the 60 I paid. Got it home, and opened it up. Dusty, but all original as far as I can tell, no lamps working, and left channel has static with the variable loudness at max. Ordered up a lamp kit from djwojo ( excellent service, professional, accurate, exact fit), and installed them. 6 lamps total, took about an hour, but I was cautious. All the pots are visible and accessible from the top. Shot them with deoxit, and followed up with faderlube. It's working well and sounding good. In fact, I'm digging the natural sound so much that I have contacted Paul at Many Moons, and got on his list for full service. I'll have to keep my eyes open for other Yamaha opportunities. It is a big departure from the Kenwood sound I'm used to, but very nice indeed.
