My first "THE 600" by Fisher

Tube Audio Collector
Just got back from the Antique Radio Charlotte 2015 held by the Carolinas Chapter of the Antique Wireless Association last week. The flea market was held Friday in the rain!!, however as I was talking to a friend of mine, an EH Scott radio collector, a friend of his had pulled a Fisher receiver out of its console, which got tossed!!! and he had it in his front seat, after a nice talk, trade of some EH Scott items that I had, I got this receiver. I took a few pictures so you all can see it. Only problem that stands out is the broke dial string on the AM tuning. All tubes in this set are marked "FISHER". I am thrilled to add this to my collection of Fishers

Congrats! I love my TA-600, they really have some great detailed sound as does my TA-800. Yours looks like it is in very good condition, I need my volume pot replaced or rebuilt for mine to work properly.

Very nice! You had a successful day out with that find. Hopefully it is in good working condition - other than the obvious attention needed to the tuner section.

Very Nice find. A couple things about your 600.

1.) The FISHER console version of the 600 will have "PREMIERE" in script in the Left Hand Upper Corner. And no "The 600" in the center.

2.) Fisher used the 20001-29999 series in the Premiere. This was a 1 year model.

3.) Your 600 has 7247 drivers, not 7199's like most of them. FISHER changed the driver tubes and circuits in the 50001-59999 600's. All previous series used 7199's for drivers.

4.) Use this manual for your 600. It is the correct one for your series. http://www.fisherconsoles.com/non console manuals/fisher 600 5001 59999 sm.pdf

Thank You larryderouin. I have saved that link. My friend was told it came out of a console. He did not see it

I'll GRANT the unit may have come from a "CUSTOM" console but not a FISHER. Which is what I was insinuating in the other post.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I have not tried to power up, maybe later this week. As I work 6 or 7 days a week and I have been off from work doing the Radio Show most of last week, it may be weeks before I can power up.

Checking out the 600,s tubes

Starting to check out the TA-600. I checked out the 7189's from this and my SA-100, with my matcher, all tubes in the 600 were Fisher marked Mullard and tested good. The 6V4 and the 5AR4 both Fisher marked, checked out good. All the 12AX7 are Telefunken ribbed plate, I will test them after I power this up, they almost always test good as this 600 does not seem to have been used a lot.
