Calling All Yamahas. Time to Post Your Pics

I'm not questioning it. They're mine now. ☺
They're fairly grimy and covered in wood dust, so I think they came from someone's wood shop.

I'm in the middle of a move, so I will not be able to do more than somewhat clean them up.

The CD-300 has a transformer mounted on the back so that it can operate on 220V,
the TC-800GL surely would need new bands by now, and the power cord on the CR-620 has been cut.

I was recently thinking about getting more Yamaha gear since I gave my previous setup
to my father a while back. Not quite what I was looking for, but it's bad form to complain about free.

A co-worker gave me a technics SA 500 receiver they were gonna throw out. Her husband couldn't understand why I would want it. They were both wondering what was wrong with me! :scratch2:

That's a really nice find! I'll gladly put up with funny looks for that! I get the same looks buying vinyl. Some people can't get rid of it fast enough, so they wonder why losers like me want it.

I bought an audio cabinet two years ago and the guy threw in an old Sanyo receiver with it, model JCX 2300K. It looked fancy, so I kept it. I didn't hook it up for a year, but when I did, I was really impressed. Googled around, and it's apparently one of the better Sanyo receivers ever made. I got it for free with a $40 cabinet, and I wouldn't get rid of it. There's a thread about it here on AK with a nice picture of the amp.

Sharing is caring

here's my DD - perhaps not as vintage as most, but it's getting more vintage every day.

sadly, not enough sources for the avs-700 to be in service....one day when i have more space, i hope to hookup all my vintage gaming systems to it.

also i just did some cleaning and rewiring, so please excuse some of the wire mess.

My "desktop" M-80 + C-70

arm2 nice set up! with the C-70 on top don't use the "Auto Class A" button or things are going to get pretty hot.:headscrat

I sold my M-80 to a friend and picked him up a C-80 in Dallas last weekend to go with it.

Sure! I don't use "Auto Class A" function, I'm not able to hear any difference. In fact I have bypassed the switch on the main board with a small bridge that can be retired very easy in the future.

It's a very nice preamp. I'm looking for one like yours, but it's not easy to find at a reasonable price.

My first Yamaha, a CT-1010 tuner. Just picked up at a good price from a lovely lady in a McDonalds parking lot after I saw the local ad.

Pre-cleanup pics. No pics of the wood case, but it's in nice shape. FM sounds good. Have not tried AM yet.

This is huge. I will need to mod my cabinet at some point.

My RX-V850, second from TOTL in I believe 92 or 93. Retail was $1000 new back then, I got this one for $50 in absolutely flawless shape, basically still new in the box. The remote (learning remote! how cool is that), antenna, manual and batteries were still even in the original sealed bags. Everything about it just looks and feels rock solid and it's HUGE, the standard 17-inch width but it's 19 inches deep and about 40 pounds. It's so big I've had problems finding a stand/shelf/cabinet to accomodate it.

It's got 80 WPC across the front, I don't recall what the surround channels are but I only use it for 2-channel anyway so I don't care. It is certainly powerful, anything above the 9-10 o'clock position on the volume knob is deafening. And the tuner in amazing, it gets FM stations 5-6 hours away with nothing more than a straightened coat hanger for an antenna.

My only real wish is that it had high/low filters for the turntable and that it wasn't so flipping huge, but I've got a lead on a nice stand that should do the trick if all my hints to Santa work out. Right now I am using a Mitsubishi turntable and ADS L810 speakers with it, waiting on a matching Yamaha CD changer in the mail which should be here any day now.
