You'll never guess what I have lined up next... :D

(My CD is the Gold Seal however...:scratch2:)

I think I'm liking this version even better than the before posted performance; it seems more dynamic and exciting...though it may lack the nuance or depth of the other (but I wouldn't say it's ostentatious).

Both are great takes on this piece imo (I'm a tyro in reference to this material of course so this is my very neophyte opinion only) and, as with so many other classical pieces with several (or even a multitude) of great performances, the problem is overchoice between different, yet still wonderful and compelling performances.

I'm not sure if I'll track down other versions of this piece, however, as I don't like it that much so far at least (I could do without the Simpsonesque Alien Treehouse of Horror parts :D).

Riccardo Chailly conducting the Concertgebouw orchestra still remains my favorite recording of the piece, followed closely by the corresponding one of Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Thanks, I'll put them on the list if I decide to check out more performances of this piece. It certainly is an interesting one! :thmbsp:
