KA-2000 ridiculous DC offset

Got one of these little guys today in really excellent shape. The guy demoed it to me and it sounded great.

Got home and just for kicks, decided to measure the DC offset. To my surprise it was showing 20V on each channel. Yes, volts. Not millivolts.

I didn't hook it up to my speakers at home yet. Just wondering if this is anywhere near the realm of normal for the KA-2000?

Looking at the interior, it seems like somebody has (at least) replaced the output transistors. My unit:

Bummer. I really wanted to keep it, but it looks like I shouldn't trust it.

Almost certainly a cap-coupled output. You won't get a proper reading until you provide a path for electrons from the chassis ground to the DC blocking cap. If you're a bit paranoid about connecting speakers, get any resistor between 10 ohms and 1K ohms (value obviously not critical) and connect it to the speaker terminals. If all is well, that voltage will drop to close to zero.

Thanks, never thought of that. My other cap coupled receiver shows 0mV so the extremely high value of this one threw me off.
