PEC devices (Packaged Electronic Circuit)?

What are they and what do they do? I use the photos in this listing purely for reference. Thank you.
as seen here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Hmmm....
I don't know.
There are 3 small PEC boards on my Dynaco FM-3 that apparently need replacement due to inappropriate curves, but they are simple 3 legged devices consisting of I believe 4 small caps and 3 resistors.
But I don't see anything like that in your attachment.

All of the PEC devices I have seen can be replaced with a network of discreet parts, usually small caps and resistors.

photo electric cell for movie projectors, it has a light that shines through the film on the edge into the photo tube to produce the sound.
I have a pair of Bell & howell film sound amps that i did mod for normal audio use and they don't sound bad at all.

That explains it. Thank you. Is it an easy mod?

Should be easy if you can find the schematic it makes it even easyer, i bypassed the photo tube and one pre ampp tube and ran a rca plug to the volume control and removed the photo tube and one power tube and the pre amp tube i bypassed, onee 6aq5 in yours is part of that section i bypassed on mine, mine have 6v6 tubes though.tom bevis might be able to find the schematic or google the units name and model munber. That on looks like all you need to do is set it for phono or mike and it will work.

a network of Rs and Cs all neatly sealed in ceramic for use as tone controls or other frequency controlling circuits. Used by several mfrs wayback in ancient history.

I got some in the tone control of my Fisher X-100A. Gladly, they indicate all values in the schematic.

Do you think I'm better to replace it?

Sorry to hijack the thread...

Thanks.

Patrice

You didn't. I like a thread to go any direction the members want it to. If a member has a similar issue, jump on in I say.
