This is my first post on this forum, and perhaps an odd one.
I'd like to get back into home audio. My only receiver, a Yamaha HTR-5140, has sat dormant for a few years. I've moved around a bit and was satisfied with using TV speakers and iPod portable units for music.
I recently picked up some NHT Superzero speakers and sub for a song, and would like to start listening to music played at a higher volume/ quality level.
I really don't care about HDMI inputs or auto speaker calibration. I'd like to get a receiver that provides a decent amount of good, clean sounding power, which leads me to the Yamaha RX-V995. If it sounds anything like my current Yamaha, only with more oomph I am sold. I'm going to look at one listed at $100 tomorrow. I'm also going to look at a Harman Kardon AVR146 for the same price. It's only listed at 30 watts/ channel, but they tout it as a high current amplifier. Any thoughts on how it might compare to the RX-V995 would be appreciated.
