OK, I know it's probably not going to happen, but with Onkyo releasing a new "mid-level" turntable... I was just wondering if Yamaha is watching the competition?
A nice Yamaha badged turntable would be super cool with either the A-S700, A-S801 or A-S2000 amplifiers... Sorry, but both the A-S2100 and A-S3000 are way out of my budget as a retiree. I don't have a crystal ball, but I'm noticing that the 20s/30s crowd are now finding their way back to better sounding audio gear and for sound quality that no iPod can match. When I travel back home to Seattle, I now notice that there are more and more of the younger crowd browsing the LP bins for the older releases and buying new releases on vinyl at the few remaining record stores in that area.
So!! to me, adding a new turntable to their current line-up seems only natural.
...I love that Yamaha is going the retro route, but adding another digital FM tuner at is slightly higher in quality than their current T-S500 model would be a winner too.
