Hi Yamahalics!

MX-2000
CX-2000
CDX-2020

Any issues i should know about? Saw something about leaving the amp and cd player on all the time?

They need some tlc that is out of my comfort range. Looking up local vintage repair shops. Have a denon pma920 that needs truobleshooting too.

Nice pieces..Welcome to AK..Whats your location? I wouldn't leave anything powered on.

Depending on the version of the MX-2000, the meter lights resistors tend to overheat the board a bit. I would surprised that yours needed any TLC at all, but I've seen how some amps are treated and climate takes a toll. I've heard a mint MX-2000 with a passive attenuator and it literally sounded like whatever it was connected to. It should of course, given Yamaha's history of design and accurate specifications. The MX-2000 performed to a higher standard than the McIntosh MC-501, Pass labs X250, Pass M2, and so forth.

Signal to Noise Ratio : 126dB (IHF-A-Network Compliant)
Bandwidth: +0/-3dB @ 0Hz and 200kHz
THD @ 10W 0.0002% (20-20kHz)
THD @ 130W 0.005%/IMD 0.002% (20-20kHz)
Residual noise 15uV (IHF-A-Network Compliant)
Damping Factor: Better than 1000
DC Coupled Design, no capacitors in signal path
Rated from 1 Ohms to 8 Ohms

By all accounts, Yamaha's MX-2000 raised the bar and performed more like a modern premium audio chipset than a 27 year old power amp. To look inside you'd think it was made in 2015, not 1987.
