Canton GLE 40 speakers

I recently bought a pair of Canton GLE 40 HiFi loudspeakers at a garage sale....I can't find any info on these on the net......serial#67911....2-way....cherry cabinets, metal grills....4 ohms ,40 watt DIN.....60 watt music power handling, 42....30000 hz. freq. range ....does anybody recognize these?....or their vintage?...thanks for any response.....:scratch2:

Produced in Germany, 1979-1980.
Measurements: 180 x 265 x 150 mm (W x H x D)
Woofer: 160 mm
Tweeter: 20 mm Dome
Crossover: 1400 Hz

Do we know anything more about these? I just snagged a set from a family member who was using them as a computer stand... I think I can put them to better use.

How do they sound? I'm partial to Cantons, myself. Having Karat 200 and Plus XL's.

Keep in mind that my amp needs to be recapped, but these sound awful. They need some serious attention. I will add them to the to do list.
