Came across these fairfax speakers today. Opinions needed.

So I found these speakers today. Fairfax fx 100b. Cabinets looked amazing from the outside. Opened the grills and it looks like the drivers were replaced.

Any thoughts? They were asking for 40.00. Would it be worth it to try to find new drivers to put in there?

Solid, attractive boxes are always nice for DIY speaker projects if you have one in mind they're suited to. I think the current term is "repurposing".

However just sticking new drivers into a box, willy nilly, is not a good idea. But with a plan, yeah.

Cool name! Also an affluent suburb of Washington DC, my home and among other companies, Conrad Johnson (what would you expect for an audio company started by a government bureaucrat?)

I have had a couple of pairs of Fairfax, and they won't do much better than provide background music at a barbecue, which is what they were used for. The woofers look replaced, original ones had cones made of cardboard. They were made in Newark, NJ.
