pioneer sx-1010 help (left channel cuts out)

I have a sx-1010. The left channel would cut. I thought it was a relay problem, so I replaced the relay.

But, the left channel still cuts in and out. Maybe for a few seconds to half a minute at most.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting? Thanks.
 
it's got 2sa726's and 2sc1451's in each channel. Get RID of them. Ksa992 and ksc3503 for replacements.

I'm expecting to go internet dark for a day or more, so others will explain as needed.
 
Mark is downright awesome (Heck, this is his list! :D) but the 2SA725's are in the Control amp and EQ boards as well. Order what you will need but the 1010 sounds fantastic when playing vinyl and the EQ will benefit with Marks list. Oh, The power supply should be rebuilt. Forgot to mention that. :D

CEANL are low leakage electrolytic caps
CQSA are styrol caps
CKDYF, CKDYB, & CCDCH are all different ceramic disk types
CQPA & CQMA are different types of film caps i believe
CSZA & CSZAH are tantalum cap


Cap rules of thumb (nichicon)

I use upw, uhe for general caps including signal coupling in that order depending upon stock "cea"
I use ues, uep & uvp in that order for bipolar depending on stock
I use ukl for low leakage caps (in sensitive areas they reduce the noise floor)"ceanl", "cssa", "csza"
0.1uf to 2 uf I use stacked film where they fit: DFS and ECQ

solid aluminum and tantalum caps get stacked film when possible, or ukl's otherwise. "cssa" "csza"

c?B means it's an axial cap = one lead on each end
c?a = radial = both leads on one end
 
Go to the PIONEER Sticky's and download the Tuning fork Service Guides. will explain 99.999999999994/10% of what you need to know.
 
Thank you, elvi and larryderouin. I did not realize that the part type designators were straight out of the Pioneer parts list. This reveals that I have not studied that part of the manual, only the schematic proper. Oops. :withstpd:

For future reference, capacitor type prefixes are documented in Tuning Fork #2. I'd put that kind of note in a high-level sticky, but I'm a newb here and don't know how.

I'm wondering about the predilection for substituting film for electrolytic in small coupling caps. Larger caps are still electrolytic, and these make up most of the signal chain, so it's not going to improve audio quality noticeably. Is it a dislike of small electrolytics? Why? Or a case of "We can, so we will"? Or something else that hasn't occurred to me? (I'm not trying to argue, just understand.)
