Show us your Realistic (Radio Shack) stuff

When I was young and the Shack was in full glory, I would not have had a piece of their equipment in my house. I did succumb to some speakers and a turntable a little later but never owned a receiver until the last year. My first was an STA-65C (built by Hitachi) but it did not work properly and I gave it away.

Recently I was rewarded with an STA-740 for free. It is quite obviously a Technics SA-303 with some slight cosmetic changes. Very nice receiver.

Show us what you have and the possible lineage of of your piece. We all know that the Shack did not manufacture their stuff but used various manufacturers to put out some competative products at quite attractive prices. Come out of the shadows and proudly display your Realistic gear.

Here are two of my Realistic receivers:

STA 95 (1978)
STA 2270 (1985)

Have to get something better than my cheap cell for pics! Sorry about the low resolution.

That's an HK 730 under the 2270, and a Kenwood KR-5400 under the STA-95.

The "bronze" metal face on the 95 is a nice touch but you can't really tell from the pics.

Actually while some of their receivers look similar to
a few of the other brands, most all of them were
manufactured by these guys..
http://www.foster.co.jp/en_corporateProfile/history.html

It wasn't until about the 1990s when some of them were
actually relabeled from brands like Pioneer.

Foster? As in Mcintosh Stereotech 1200 Foster? *watches the prices of anything RS jump through the roof*

Also, I want a system seven reciever. <3<3<3

A few shots of some of my Radio Shack gear. The RD-8100 tt is a nice solid table. The STA-52B and the Minimus-5 speakers are hooked up to my computer. The SCT-29 cassette and 5 band eq are on my STA-2000.

I found this STA-2100 at a local garage sale. It needed a fuse, two lamps, some DeOxit and danish oil to bring it back to beautiful condition. When I was looking for info on it, I found this incredible website and I was hooked! ;). I sold it to a Realistic collector in Ohio who drove two hours to pick it up.

I was given this nice pair of Nova 10s by a little old lady that I did a plumbing job for. She had not played them since her husband passed on. Ya gotta love audio karma.
