Turntables in the movies

7MGTE Power!
I recently watched the movie The Answer Man. In the movie Jeff Daniels character suffers from a bad back and is laid out listening to a record skip. What brand it that turntable.....it looks darn sexy!

Any pics of it? Maybe a screen capture from a DVD or YouTube? Might help others to identify it, and even if we can't, turntable porn is always a pleasure! :D

I don't doubt that it's good, but does it really need the mcintosh faceplate? Looks way out of place and awkward.

I can't remember what he had it paired with in the movie, but I'm pretty sure it was sitting on some other McIntosh components and the whole set-up looked pretty good. I'd tend to agree, though, that I like turntables to look like turntable and amps to look like amps.

There's a second image on that page that shows the thing in profile. The platter is thick enough that it rises above the faceplace. I mean, if someone were to twist my arm, I s'pose I'd take it. If I had to....

The Mac is supposed to be a very good sounding TT.

Whoever did the visual design of the thing should be taken outside on a hot summer day for thirty consecutive days, smeared with honey and staked over and ants nest for half an hour. :nono:

What they did to that TT(visually) was a crime. :whip:

Ditto!

It almost looks like a component system. Thats what turns me off from this thing. But id love me an old Mac 1700 receiver!

I've been curious to what broadcast turntable that is next to Super Soul (Cleavon Little) in Vanishing Point.

The tonearm is as big as a baseball bat.........
